The Northumberland Strait Conference on Coastal Protection and Restoration brought together scientists, government authorities, the business community and conservation groups to share their experiences and research on aspects of Coastal Protection and Restoration. It provided a platform to discuss recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Coastal Protection and Restoration.

The Conference Objective was to create awareness among residents (Shediac to Murray Corner), media and government of the value of wetlands (Houston example) to the tourism industry, to the economy and to the lifestyle of people who live in these communities.

About Us

Who is S.W.W.A.T.?

SWWAT is a community of seasonal and full-time residents who treasure the shoreline and its beautiful waterscapes.

We value the health of our families and the tourists who enjoy visiting this area every summer. Pollution with increased bacteria in the water increases the risk of infections of the eyes, ears and upper respiratory tract, and can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

There have been growing signs of water pollution for many years. The goal of SWWAT is to inform government, and to encourage them to act now to correct current problems and prevent future ones.
